Female African Americans as Transformational transformative leaders.

Every one can contribute, but few only can lead those people to perform a certain task are called the leaders. Leadership is the ability to command acceptance by a group of people and thus, get them to do what the leader wants (Buchanan, 2006). Transformational leadership is a type of leadership matched to the post-World War II era. Transformational leaders are those leaders who can motivate and inspire to change the process of achieving above what they are capable of. Women leaders effectiveness is decided according to speech, group versus self orientation and also competence strategies.

According to (Yuki 1989) the method of influencing key changes in the assumptions and attitudes of the organizations objectives is called transformational leadership. Transformational leaders by acting as agents persuade objectives and missions of organization to make a way for a better future.

The concept of Transient Women is a new paradigm and feminist vision for analyzing female subjectivity and consciousness. Female Subjectivity in African American Womens Narratives of Enslavement is a new and innovative study of black womens transformation, which focuses on black women writers who support the notion of separate location for a changed female consciousness.  The concept of the Transient Woman is a new paradigm and feminist vision for analyzing female subjectivity and consciousness. Recent trends on African-American women participation
Parker, Patricia S. (2005) in his book Race, Gender, and Leadership highlights the new form of leadership provided by the leadership scholars in the 21st century. The feminine leadership model is based on the media developed by the white middle class women. Due this the experiences of African American women and different class of women views were undermined. The African-American women leadership dialogues were oppressed. The collective voices together with executives, superiors, and subordinates observations were important to quantify the transformational leadership.
To improve the source of leadership there is need to tap the skill of African-American women as well. In the era of globalization, it is unethical to ignore the participation of diverse group who are also part of this multicultural, global society. He concluded stating that leadership theorizing in 21st century should consider the participation of different groups and characterize postindustrial society.

Factors for success of African-American women transformational leadership
The factors that contribute to the success of African-American women include proper vision, a great deal of patience, sense of humor and a basic understanding of human nature, identifying the potential, selecting the right staff not only on the based on the skill but also on their attitude, discovering the ways to follow the established models of success etc.

Bass (1990) says that there is involvement of leaders influence on followers is referred as transformational leadership. Due to admiration, trust, loyalty and respect on the leader they are enough motivated to work harder. The subordinates are motivated by leader by making them to understand importance of values, outcomes and teamwork. Transformational leadership is better for women due to demand for caring, supportive and considerate behaviors. Charisma of a leader itself is not sufficient and he has to act as trainer, coach and mentor.

Transformational leaders will be anticipating heavy challenges and search out for opportunities and are also ready to take risks. They inspire others by sharing their vision and rally others to get support and set an example by planning small wins. They celebrate the accomplishments and try to recognize the contributor for their success.

Lewis (1996) developed some characteristics based on which the ability of a transformational leader is estimated. They are strategic thinker, initiative, ability to empower others, strategy formulation and implementation, visionary, positive mental attitude, willingness to change, encouraging human potential, effective communicator, ability to handle things, skilled motivator, ability to gain commitment and ability to inspire trust.

Friedman (2000) also developed some key characteristics such as vision, charisma and inspiration, intellectual stimulation and creativity, individual consideration, honesty and integrity, confidence and optimism.
Impact of African-American women transformational leadership
Depending upon the situation the transformational leaders use that leadership styles that suites it better. Garcia-Retamero (2006) says that the peoples expectations based on the leaders gender will show impact on the environment. The female African-American elevated a position in the corporate or public service overcoming the glass ceiling.

Role of African-American women transformational leadership
Some of the important female African American transformational actors include Rosa Louise McCauley Parks, Shirley Antia St. Hill Chisholm, Sojourner Truth, Dr. Ruth J. Simmons and Ms.Henderson.
Sojourner Truth is well known for her speech Aint I a Woman.

Shirley Antia St. Hill Chisholm became the first black American presidential candidate in the 1972 elections.
Rosa Louise McCauley Parks was dubbed by U.S congress as Mother of Modern Day Civil Rights Movement.

Dr. Ruth J. Simmons, the appointed as a president of Brown University and started engineering course for women.

Ms.Henderson taught poor African American children and dared to tell that she could be a president of a college. In the above stated way female African American transformational leaders excelled in their life and stood as a role model and given birth to new transformational leaders.

Managing the transformational leadership

Dr. Emmanuel Chekwa (2001) in his paper searching for African American transformational leaders provided patterns how female African-American elevated a position in the corporate or public service overcoming the glass ceiling. This has described about another transformational leader Ms.Henderson who influenced Dr. Ruth Simmons to become another transformational leader.
The style of working is employed based on the situation and changes them when ever the situation demand with new one. Results are given importance than the approaches and styles. (Lewis, 1996)

All the African American transformational leaders brought out under different circumstances. By analyzing their success stories we should understand that transformational leaders can be made. They are capable of crossing racial barriers and any other barriers also. They try to influence others to become transformational leaders and believe that the basic principles of transformational leaders can be propagated and develop future transformational leaders. Female transformational leaders maintained their own style and inspired lot of young women to develop into a better leader of their type. Transformational leadership used by female African American leaders is mostly about trust, relationship and care.
